Children's Art Festival 2006-2007

Each Spring Grace Baptist Church holds a Children's Art Festival.  Check out their Web site for more details about the 2009 Art Festival in the Spring.

Here's the link to pictures about the 2008 festival:  http://www.gbc.org.tw/~gracebaptist/event_artfest2008.htm

Here's the 2007 Art Festival Poster

The Annual Children's Art Festival - the story behind this is kind of interesting.  The Lord actually put this idea on Terrie's heart way back in 1990 when we lived in California, but each time she would ask God if she should pursure the idea, He would answer with a "not yet".  When we came to Taiwan, the answer seemed to change.  She just knew this was the place for this dream to come true.  It came true in 2004 and has continued each year since.

Part of Grace Baptist's Children's Choir.  We had performed "Kingdom Quest" earlier that year.  Rachelle is on the right and Annie is next to her.

Some of the paintings and artwork from the children.

Jonathan is a local artist who has come to the festival twice now to share his craft of pottery and help the children create their own works of art.  He shared about God being the Potter and we are the clay and how to become a Christian with the children.  It was wonderful!

Children shared their talents.

In addition to displaying art and child performances, we had activities including face painting for the children to participate in.

Two little Brown kids who attended the art festival.  :-)

We also had doctors and dentists who volunteered their time to do quick check-ups for the kids at the Art Festival

In addition to all the other activities, we raised money each year to help out a ministry focused on children.  We had the festival as close to Children's Day as we could.  Children's Day is one of the Taiwanese holidays.  One year we raised money for Taiwanese Aboriginal Children's education through the Taiwan Happy Family Association, The next year was World Vision, and the third year we raised money for an orphanage in Kaoshiong to which we sent a mission team from the Chinese congregation to help the orphanage as well.
