Missions4Taiwan
is the mission God has placed on our hearts. Taipei has a smaller percentage of Christians than even Mainland China. Christians make up less than 3% of the population. However, the Taiwanese are very religious people and are interested in Christianity. We have religious freedom at this time, and many doors have opened to us for ministry. Here is what we feel God has placed on our hearts:
1) Church:  We feel called to start Living Springs Church in Taipei. Dave is called to be a pastor, and we know we should be working with the English-speakers in Taiwan. We will work mostly with Taiwanese nationals, but there are many people in Taiwan from all over the world. Evangelism and discipleship are our first two ministry priorities. From our time in Taiwan, we know that the Harvest is bountiful! The opportunities for ministry are enormous in Taiwan.
2) Satellites: The need for satellite churches is huge. Many ex-pats (people from other countries) are in remote areas without any evangelical churches with English programs. So, in addition to starting a church in the Taipei area, we will seek to start satellite churches in homes using the sermons from our services with each group creating its own fellowship and worship.
3) Missions: While we were in Taiwan, the need for short term missions also became apparent. Many of the Taiwanese travel and are anxious to carry the Gospel around the world. We were able to go on an island-wide mission trip with our choir

and the choir from FBC of Fair Oaks, CA.We also took a team to Venezuela. Dave went to China and India as well during those seven years. When we left in 2006, there were several of us praying about other trips. We hope we will get to go on those trips.  Short term trips are a vital part of the ministry to which we’re called.
4) Ministry and Family Budget:  Because we are  independent with only the moral support from IMB (International Missions Board of the SBC) missionaries, we are working as teachers this year while starting the new work.  However, our desire is to be full time in ministry beginning in fall of 2009.  Ideally, we would love for our children to attend the local missionary school.  That will require a large amount of money, so we are prepared to continue home schooling and plan to homeschool all four children for 2009-2010.  We will be making some salary from the ministry here, but we will need extra money to afford to live.  We are seeking to raise around $1500 USD per month from August 2009.  This will be used to help pay for plane tickets, insurance, housing, and if possible help with putting kids in school.

5) Teams: We have four teams – two prayer teams, a financial support team, and a church start team. You can be part of one or all of these helping with the work in Taipei. We want to have two prayer teams – one praying daily for the ministry and family needs, and one that will specifically commit to pray daily for our children and their education. Their

education has been a challenge, and we need a team committed to pray for them.

This could be you!
